Fixing Faces and Broad Smiles

I haven't been out with friends for 17 days, and the last time I met any of them was exactly 2 weeks ago. I have rarely managed to keep to myself for this long, and one would expect me to get angsty or restless, but the last 2 weeks have been very busy and time consuming, so I'm glad! However, I decided that I should start going on my rounds; seeing friends before I leave. I didn't expect to start so soon, but Manpreet invited me out, and who can turn down such a privilege?

Jon, Manpreet and I met at 1pm outside MPH. We got our tickets for "Mad Money". The counter person kept screwing up my booking number, by putting my mobile number in the reservation box and vice versa. He got lucky on his 8th try. He then picked the wrong movie, and so had to try two more times. "=.=

Then, embarrassment set in. After all that trouble, when Jon saw that the back row was empty, he decided that he wanted to line up at the regular counters, so we wouldn't need to pay the RM1 booking fee! Manpreet and I were busy hiding ourselves behind Jon when we lined up again.

Manpreet belanja'd us the tickets! THANKS!

On the way down met Jia Jing and Vivien. We waited for them to get their tickets for "In the Name of the King", and then headed down to D'lish for our lunch.

Having heard nothing but complaints about the food, I ordered the most familiar thing on the menu; Duck Confit Oglio. Not really good. It's put me off Duck Confit for a while. The other two had a salad, Jon had Caesar Salad and Manpreet had a pie. Such adventurous eaters : yet they still weigh more than me!

After JJ and Viv left, the three of us caught up and chatted, and then went for our movie after which we (or rather Jon and I) had dessert. Tiramisu and Cappuccino something. Both were good, but of course Tiramisu won the battle yet again. It was Jon's first time at the Gardens, and so he was eager to see the "fantastic panoramic views" that Itallianies had to offer.

Try as I may, we couldn't take a group picture, cause apparently when there are 3 people in a picture, the middle person will die. I offered to be the centrepiece, but Manpreet loves me too much! :D I made Jon look so good in the pictures I took of them, but my smile is so huge in mine! When he was taking it, I asked him if my smile was okay and he said it was fine. HMPH!

At 5, they both left, and I was promptly joined by Yee Ping. We headed over to Shing Yun's house, and after I practiced my piano, we headed off to BSC. We planned to eat at Alexis, but Brigitte joined us and wanted to go to Chili's.

At 9, after buying some biscuits at Cold Storage, I headed back home!

THE BEST PART.

The cab ride to Shing Yun's house was funny.

Me : Can we go to BSC? Oh sorry, I mean, a house next to BSC.
Driver : *grunts*

The car reeked of cigarettes, and the driver was a plump grumpy Malay man. Ping and I chatted the whole way, and then suddenly...

Me : I think he's on the wrong side of the road...how's he gonna turn?
Driver : Is the house located on the right hand side or the left hand side of the road? :)
Me : *mouth falls open*

When I got into the cab, I presumed that he probably had the most basic English language skills. The way he spoke, his intonation, his manner of speaking, his diction, his voice. Gosh. He didn't have an accent, but he had crisp, smooth and succinct Queen's English. I was so stunned, I could barely form complete sentences after he opened his mouth. After stumbling out of the car, Ping and I exchanged a shocked glance and headed up to the door.

Oh, we walked to BSC from Shing Yun's house, and saw her neighbour's dogs. There are 9 of them : 2 Afghan Hounds, 1 Poodle, 2 Chow Chows, 1 Chihuahua...the rest I didn't see. The Afghan's are so beautiful. Definitely one of my ten future dogs :)

Had a wonderful time catching up with friends. Congrats Manpreet, and best of luck for UNSW! If I don't see you before the 18th, I'll see you when I fly down to Sydney for Easter! And thanks so much for the movie :)

Jon has always been brilliant in Bio, and always craved becoming a pilot. I, meanwhile, think he would have made an exceptionally bright doctor! He has never done anything but science before. And now, he's doing my course in Nottingham "=.=

I've nothing to say except...Jon, don't "fix" your face, and don't wait one whole year to meet up again!

See you!
