Sleeping Friends

I invited Lixia, Wei Xiong, Jia Hui and Emy over to my house for lunch on the 8th of Jan, since my "Daddy Waddy" and "Mummy Dummy" were too busy to take care of me :(. My mom was on holiday with my sis, and my dad was at work. I wanted to invite Charmaine as well, but I thought she wouldn't come since Uni had just started. Lixia had class at 2 so we had to push it forward to 10am.

The day before, when I returned from work, I cleared up the entire house room by room, as much as I could. It took 20 minutes. I then walked into my room, and fatigue just washed over me when I saw what state it was in. 2 hours later, I collapsed into bed, waking up at 9.45am the next morning.

Hannah kept me company on webcam till they arrived at 11. I was baking garlic bread 'cause it tasted good when I made it before, but I forgot that it was baking, and so left it in the oven 5 minutes over the time limit. The result was bread that felt like rock. We had Domino's and Shepherd's Pie for lunch, and then lazed around till 3pm (Lixia skipped class for the first time ever!).

And they made me pay for their lunch "=.=

To tell you the truth, the experience overall was quite below the bar I expected more since I usually have loads of fun with other friends who have come over. I don't know if it was because it was too early, or the fact that everyone wanted to do different things at the same time, (like people wanting to play games, while others wanted to watch the TV, and then switch over etc.) but it just wasn't up to my expectations. I was pretty excited the night before, so once they were out the door I was left with this sense of dissatisfaction and distaste - as if the day ended too soon and with the wrong conclusion and the wrong impression of my hosting.

Whatever it is, I'm glad they came over anyway. I just don't take disappointment easily - after all I make sure I'm rarely disappointed. Next time friends come over, I'm following my preconceived plans! :D
