Shut Up and Drive

I'm getting an Ipod Touch.

But I should stop saying that until I actually get it, because THEY RAN OUT OF STOCK. Bloody hell, how can Apple run out of Ipods?! So now they have to IMPORT one "=.= Their excuse was that it was new, but the Touch isn't that new what! Eee, anyway...

I wanted to give my humble opinion on fuel prices. I'm a relatively blur person, and I prefer to keep my mouth shut rather than embarrass myself in front of more knowledgable people. But I think this uproar over increased fuel prices is just too much. It shows how pampered and spoilt Malaysians are - and that's me being patriotic.

We live in this quaintly tightly wrapped bubble surrounded by sky rocketing fuel prices in countries around us, and when that bubble shrinks slightly, we start kicking up a fuss. We are paying prices that are no where near as high as other countries. Staying with my cousins in Donvale opened my eyes so much. I always knew we were underpaying for our petrol, but when compared to what others pay, I must say we are damn lucky.

I do admit however that I could be a bit biased. My dad's company takes care of my family's fuel consumption so we don't feel the implications of the price rise. However, I'm not delusional. The government shouldn't have let the prices rise so drastically or suddenly. They should have let them gradually move up - but they procrastinated, and so had no other choice.

I was watching a documentary on shale oil in Australia. Apparently about a million years worth of fuel has been found ready to be extracted in the bush. Shale oil is expensive to extract, but when compared to the expected price of oil in the years to come, anything pales in comparison. Hopefully that'll solve our problem - I always dreaded the time when fuel became like Kopi Luwak.

But yeah. We need to suck it up and move ahead. Pay the price of men's wasteful greed. And thank our government for beind kind enough to subsidise fuel - not only are we paying a fraction of the real value, but in other countries, especially in Australia, fuel is TAXED. How would you like that? So be grateful!

And now, I really need to start my 80 cases!
