Breaking the Ice

It's only been a week!

Happy birthday to my dear friend VYN! (more on this in posts to come)

I'm breaking this long period of incommunicado silence by doing a tag! As you all know, tags are one of my favourite things :)

1. The rules of the game get posted at the beginning.
2. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
3. At the end of the post the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know they got tagged and to ask them to play and read your blog.

Starting time: 1.49am Melbourne time
Name: you know it :)
Sisters: One, 29
Brothers: None.
Shoe Size: 10 - 11. (depending on the type of shoe)
Height: 175cm, or 5ft 8inches. (I THINK!).

Where do you live: Section 12 PJ, and Swanston Street, Melbourne.
Favourite drinks: Pepsi! Seasons Ice Lemon Tea!
Favourite breakfast: Bread, butter and jam...or that special cereal my mom buys when I go back to KL!

Have you ever been on a plane?: Yes.
Swam in the ocean: I can't swim anywhere, let alone an ocean.
Fallen asleep at school: Nope.
Broken someone’s heart: Don't think so!
Fell off your chair: YES! Many times!
Sat by the phone all night waiting for someone to call: Once, but I fell asleep waiting!

What is your room like: The entire space of my Melbourne apartment can snuggle comfortably into my Malaysian bedroom - so it's small!
What’s right beside you: Camera, cake, Ipod, cookies, apple bars, two flasks of water
What is the last thing you ate: Chocolate spongerolllll...

Ever had chicken pox: Yes.
Sore throat: Yes, duh!
Stitches: Thankfully not!

Broken nose: Ditto!

Do you believe in love at first sight: I have to agree with Poh Ching - that's infatuation. But that doesn't mean it can't GROW into love.
Like picnics: I've never actually had a proper one, on the grass, with friends, basking in the sun. I've always wanted to though!
Who was, were the last person you danced with: Hmmm...Yi Ping etc at Eve.
Last made you smile: Seok!
You last yelled at: I haven't yelled at anyone in ages, so I really can't remember - it's been that long!

Today did you:
Talk to someone you like: Yes - plenty of them!
Kissed anyone: No. =( There's no one yet!
Get sick: THANKFULLY NOT, but I'm dreading the 2-week-after-landing-in-a-different-country curse that I have.
Talk to an ex: I don't have one!
Miss someone: Yes. A whole bunch of people.
Eat: Yeah, but I skipped dinner, cause I'm on diet! ;)
Best feeling in the world: When I prove someone wrong, or when I make people proud of me. And having wonderful times with closeknit friends, and spending time with those I care about.

Do you sleep with stuffed animals: No, never did!
What’s under your bed: Erm, the carpet!
Who do you really hate: People who aren't straight with me, and people who don't like me without even knowing me.

Taggy Waggy!

Note : I've (finally) changed my background music to the new single from Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland : 4 minutes. One of my favourite Madonna songs to date.

I have a massive blogging task ahead of me, so I might as well get this out of the way. A TAG! THANKS LI HONG! And happy birthday :)

And happy birthday to Chong Ian too! Woot!

The rules:-

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.
2. List eight (8) random facts about yourself.
3. Tag eight people at the end of this post and list their names.
4. Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving them a comment on their blogs.

1. I show different people different sides of me.

A lot of my friends have different impressions of me - some think I'm authoritative, some think I'm meek, while some think I'm just plain weird. In different groups of people, I act differently. I even TALK and ACT differently.

For example, when I'm with "Settedici" I usually don't step up and lead. I tend to be the person on the side who goes along with the flow and the overall direction of the group. When I'm with "Starbucks" though, I tend to be a core player in the direction of the outing's events. With the Cempakans that I still enjoy going out with, everyone is equal so I have as much power as the next guy.

And I talk differently to different people. I can be snide to one, talk with Malaysian slang in full force to another, and talk with an accent to the last. There's no control switch, so no matter how hard I try, I cannot treat or interact with different groups of people the same. I don't even get a say in how I first interact with anyone - my body just decides it automatically for me. Oh well.

2. I eat tonnes but don't put on weight

I wasn't even going to put this in until my friend reminded me about it :) Yes, I eat a lot. I get hungry almost every hour and I don't like hunger so I fulfill it. Yet, I stay the same size! I can just imagine all the contestants of The Biggest Loser charging towards me at full force with pitch forks in hands.

It's not that I don't WANT to put on weight. I want to be at least 60kg! But sometimes when I look at myself in the mirror I think "What's wrong with being this size anyway?".

Okay la, that only happens when I wear clothes that make my face look a bit bigger than it really is, so don't worry.

3. Eventhough I love Starbucks, I rarely drink their coffee

This is because I usually have Caramel Hot Chocolate. And sorry Melbournians, but Max Brenners Italian Hot Chocolate cannot compare. Koko Black's Ice Chocolate only comes slightly up to par. Starbucks is still my favourite.

I prefer normal coffee that you get in hotels or homemade coffee over commercialised coffee or Cappuccino anyday.

4. Royal Blood?

According to my family tree, the first of my ancestors was the King of India, and after a while his descendants became the King's of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Then somewhere along the line, one of the heirs to the throne got kidnapped by the Dutch when they invaded and after a while the British took over, so that was the end of that!

5. I like good music

If music is good, I'll take a listen, no matter what genre. While I do have preferences (pop, rock, pop rock, r&b) I still like any song that is good. I'm thankful for my objectivity in music because I think it transcends into various other areas of my life.

6. I don't think anyone is ugly

I've never met an ugly person! The only "ugly" people I've seen are those Africans on TV who have face eating tumours or something. In every single person I'm able to find some hint of "beauty" or something that appeals to me. There's always something special and unique about a person, and I find it : and that only covers the outer layer. When I delve inside their character and characteristics I always realise that beauty is really not skin deep.

7. I can't stay angry

It's really annoying that I can't stay mad at anyone. Sometimes you just want that rush of adrenalin coursing through your veins, the clenching of your first - and then suddenly it's ripped from you without warning, leaving an empty aching echo dimbly beating in your head. If someone were to throw my assignments out my window into the pool below, and then asked me to go out 5 minutes later my anger just dissipates and I agree.

Aaarh. Now I'm angry at myself! But since I'm also an irritably forgiving person, I forgive myself :)

8. I don't think I'm appreciated as much as I should be

I'm self sacrificing, patient, tolerant and I live to please my friends. I only have 2 or 3 who would go the same distance for me. In fact most don't think what I bring to the table is worth taking a second look at anyway.

I don't mind being a normal friend. But sometimes I wonder how no one appreciates the extent of heart I have for every single person I interact with. I genuinely care for every single person who crosses my part, and that worries me sometimes.

But after saying all that, I don't know why I AM saying all that when nothing has happened in ages for me to complain about. So strike that from memory until I'm emo or if I stomp over someone in the future :)

Omg. I should never blog at 3.20am again. I'm only blogging cause I'm too lazy to find my pillow and I'm worried about my Accounts assignment.

I tag :

1. Manpreet
2. Seok
3. Shu Wei
4. Harvey
5. Ai Vyn
6. Rezza
7. Ju-En
8. Albert

Cause they either are the only ones who update their blogs, or the only ones I think I can convince that tags are worth doing "=.=

Q&A

Back at Your Door is one of my favourites off the Maroon 5 album. It's hard to pick favourites :) Enjoy!

I've actually wanted to do this for a while, but I either kept forgetting, or I just didn't have the guts! However, after Sherryn did hers, I got a boost of confidence, and so went around to some of my friends, whom I thought I could collect interesting questions from. When some of them didn't get back to me, I ended up asking whoever popped online. In the end, everyone replied, and so now I have too many!

The "Interesting Questions" section is riddled with great questions! :)

First, the basics...

Why One mug too many? - Boon
Well Boon, after going to Italy, I think you should understand! I'm sure most of you here know that I have daily cravings for coffee. I need to have my fix in order to call it a day. Infact, after I take a sip of that marvelous elixir, all my stress and burdens (even those I didn't know I had before the sip) just fall away. So, I am addicted to coffee. One mug too many refers to me having too much coffee, that it just pushes me over the edge. But in a totally good way :)

Why Australia and not the UK? - Boon
Hmmm. This is the first time a friend has asked me that. Usually they just go "Who asked you to go to Australia? Told you to come to the UK!". They never asked why. So thank you Boon :) First of all, I can't afford it. Unless of course I move my poor parents into a mud hut somewhere in the Amazon and then go. And more than that, it's too far away. If anything happens back home, Australia is less than half a day away. And also my parents reminded me that I have absolutely no relatives in England, while a whole stock of them await me in Melbourne.

Why blog? - Sherryn
I'm surprised you asked me that! But yeah, why blog? I was asked the same question yesterday; those who don't blog don't see the point. But blogging is really - for lack of a better word - fun! Not only does it help you fill your time and relieve some boredom, but it helps you let out your feelings, and fulfill that internal craving to write and write. When I'm angry, hurt or upset, translating my feelings into words acts as this supreme outlet, and I can literally feel the pain flowing out of my body through my fingertips. And besides, it's a great way to keep friends informed of your life, especially if they're overseas, or if you just rarely meet them. So, that's why! :)

How truthful are you on your blog? - Sherryn
I am extremely truthful on my blog. I rarely exaggerate, and when I do, it's just to make my ramblings more appealing or imaginable. But everything I write is true - some may be edited, but they're still true. I don't want to paint a false image of myself, because, that would mean I'm not happy being me, and living my life!

Do you have any phobias? And if so, how severe would you rate it? - Emy
I don't really have any phobias. I am slightly scared of frogs, but nothing that I can't control! And the worst thing I fear can happen to me is being ship wrecked in the middle of the ocean. Since that has quite a low possibility of happening, that's rarely thought about.

What's your biggest evil deed? - Boon
Oh boy. I'm wondering which one I should reveal :P Which one will cause the least damage? Hmmm...I think I'll have to pass on this question Boon! For the sake of my social life!

Now, the interesting ones!

Which US Presidential candidate do you support, and state 3 reasons why. - Emy
I support Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaing for the 44th Presidency of the United States of America. And no, not because her name is similar to Hilary :)

  • Hillary has more experience and more ready to step into the limelight. She was the woman behind the Bill Clinton presidency, which was arguably the most supported and popular presidency in the last 70 years. She watched and learned, and took an active role in the presidency. Being one of the most influencial lawyers in the United States, not only does she know and understand the issues at hand like the back of her hand, but she has the maturity and drive to become a fierce and able President.
  • Like Senator Obama, Hillary supports demolishing tax breaks that were established by President Bush in order to reduce the national debt, while providing tax cuts for those in need. However, she plans to use increased tax rates not only to reduce the deficit, but to help provide universal Health care and subsidized premiums for the needy, and also help fund her $110 billion a year program which requires employers to contribute to the cost of their workers health coverage.
  • Currently, the country with the closest market structure to a free trade market is the United States. Unlike her opponents, Hillary is against this. A free trade market is a market which trades goods and services irrespective of goverment restrictions and trade barriers such as taxes, quotas and legislation (Ms Kimmie would be so proud!) which leads to economic inefficiency. Furthermore, Hillary is pushing for (according to Wikipedia, 108.3%) duty on imports from Chinese manufacturers (to be more specific, candlemakers) to prevent dumping. Due to the low costs of production in China, because of low wages and cheap resources, local US candlemakers are losing out on customers because the Chinese makers are able to undercut their prices.
Okay, and also whenever Barack Obama gives a speech, it's infused with "for the blacks!", and "for the Hispanics and Latinos" and all sorts of racial aspects! Okay, we get it man! You're not Caucasian! It's so bloody annoying. Hillary doesn't mention use her gender in her speeches. You barely remember that she could be the first woman to take the Oval office, because you can see her as a real President, on power with her husband and the others. When you see Obama, you can never forget that he will be the first non-Caucasian to take office because he doesn't let you forget it.

And besides, he's technically not even an African American. He's just registered as one because his dad is Black. I would rather wait for Will Smith!

What did you feel when you knew that Dumbledore was "HAPPY"? - Boon

While many were "shocked" by the news, or rather shocked by the fact that J.K. actually threw him out of the closet, I don't think it's such a big deal that Dumbledore was gay. I had my suspicions around the 5th book, but I pushed them out of my head because it had nothing to do with the story. So when I heard the news, it didn't really affect or interest me at all. I went "Oh okay", and went on with my life.

Why are you so obsessed with Hilary when Miley is so much more cuter? - Hashie
First a piece of information for you Hashie! Miley Cyrus is a huge fan of Hilary Duff, and Hilary surprised her once during an interview (pretending to be a regular fan calling to ask a question). Miley went on to say how much she admired Hilary and how Hil had really inspired her, and how she wanted to emulate her and her career. To watch, click here!

Anyway, Hilary is hot :D Miley is too young, green, and "bippy boppy"! And she's quite inexperienced in the industry. Hilary has a great character, and has the greatest success out of any Disney Channel star in the history of the network. She's smart, funny, independant and genuine. So, that's why I like her better. I never really payed attention to Miley!

What colour are the walls of your room, and what did you realise that made you scared in your third last post? - Sherryn
OOOO! Hahaha...I love this question, simply because it's so unique! Hehehe. Well, my room walls are of two different colours. There are 5 walls - one is this exact shade of blue, 2 are this exact shade of gold, and the other 2 are a mixture of the two colours.

Of the remaining walls, one is divided between two colours by a diagonal line, and the other is mostly gold, but one corner has a steep small triangle of blue.

This is the latter wall on one half of the room. If you click on the pictue, you might notice the ceiling goes a bit lower towards the end of the picture : that ceiling beam architecturally cuts the room in half, and it is also painted gold :)

As for the second part of the question, I didn't realise people might interpret the statement differently. I was not scared because I realised something, I realised that I was scared. :) I was scared about my impending move to Melbourne!

What do you think of Chong Ian, truthfully! - Chong Ian
I think you Chong Ian has interesting vocabulary; you he makes interesting and out of the ordinary statements, which I couldn't come up with myself! I also think you'rehe's a fun person to have around because youhe makes interesting, funny conversation. And also now you're he's Mr Popular over in Imperial! However, I think that if you he doesn't know someone well enough you he can be a bit cold or sarcastic to/about them! But once you're he's past that, you're he's a great entertaining friend :)

Is there God? - Boon
I believe in God Almighty. I can testify to his existence by the way everything clicks into place when I need it the most, and all the undeserved blessings that have come my way even though I have done nothing warrant it. And look around you. How did all these things come into existence? 'Nuff said.

What do you feel is the meaning of life? - Boon
Life is the characteristic that distinguishes inorganic substances and organisms. *Snores* What did you expect?!

Any other questions will be entertained :)

20 Questions

First of all, I would like to announce that...

MAROON 5'S GOING TO MELBOURNE
on the 30th of March! It's the last day of Easter holidays! I don't know if my parents are gonna approve of me going so soon after starting uni, but SO WHAT?! This makes up for missing Hilary's concert (by a mere 2 weeks)! Who's going with me?! :D It's quite near Melbourne Uni too!

I wouldn't have even known if I hadn't read PKaye's blog and found out they were going to Adelaide. So thank you to PKaye! We both should find a way to go! Hehehe

Also on the list of surprises is a tag by Yi Ping! Thanks :) I love tags! And this is officially the first tag of my new blog!

I corrected the English of the questions though *sheepish grin*

1. What was your dream during your childhood?
I wanted to find out that I was actually the son of a mythical Greek God. Preferably Zeus. OH OH, and I also wanted to become famous!

2. Do you like rainy days or sunny days? Why?
Sunny days. Doesn't everything seem so much more easy going and clear when it's bright out? When it's a rainy day, I feel so bored and depressed and my body clock starts asking questions like "Why is it dark in the morning? That's just wrong. I'm confused. Mummy, help! This is too much to take!"

3. Which colour do you like better? Black or White?
Since I think I like both equally, I'll take a survey. Looking around at my room, I have 9 black things, and a gazillion white ones, so yeah.

4. Who would you marry?
A girl who's caring, carries herself well, has ambition, and is intelligent, fun and outgoing. Or Hilary Duff.

5. Where do you want to go most? Why?
England. Growing up, as a child I read many books by British authors, and so I have this painted picture of England in my mind's eye. I want to experience it for myself. And besides, I'll feel even closer to the realm of Harry Potter, and they have fantastic chocolate! And of course, friends are there :)

6. Which part of yourself do you love the most?
My heart. I can love unconditionally, and forgive instantaneously. However, this also sometimes makes it the part I hate most. In those rare times, my brain is my baby :)

7. When you encounter a sad moment, what do you do?
It depends. If I walk in on a sad moment between two people, I'll just pretend I'm looking for something, and walk right back out. If I'm in the sad moment, I'll think about it for a while, and then leave it in my past.

8. What are you afraid of losing the most?
Health, family and friends.

9. If you met someone you love, would you confess to him/her? Or just keep it secret, observing?
It depends. If I think I have a shot, I'll confess. If not, I'll lie in wait. But then again, I'm talking about crushes. If it was true love (as in, will you marry me?) I'll go for it.

10. List out 3 good points of the one who tagged you
.
I wouldn't really know for sure, but in my opinion, Yi Ping is...hardworking, dedicated and adventurous.

11. What are the requirements that you wish for your other half
?
Read point 4. She must also get along with friends and family, and be able to make me laugh (which is basically not hard at all!).

12. Up to now, what is the moment you regret most?
Causing unecessary hurt during my final school year.

13. Which type of person do you hate most?
- people who think that they can get away with everything. For example, if you have a meet up on Saturday, the day before the meet up they'll call and say "oh, sorry, I've decided to go out with other friends...not my fault! You only told me a week ago, you should tell me 5 months in advance!!!"
- backstabbers, or people who only use you when they need something.

14. What is your ambition?
Oh wow. I am the vessel of ambition. I want to make partner in my 30's. I want to found a conglomerate, become a billionaire. I want to have a sprawling yet homely house, with 9 dogs, 1 cat, one person to take care of them, up to 4 kids, a supporting wife and mother, and 6 cars to drive around in. OH OH, and become famous enough to present at the Grammy's!

15. Would you rather be someone else at this very moment?
No. Oh wait. Yes! Someone who is able to watch Maroon 5 and Hilary in Melbourne!

16. If you can have 2 dreams to come true, what would it be?
To make a load of cash and have a big happy family.
And what the heck...I'll go for it...to become a world famous singer! :D and actor. and TV personality. What else is there again?

17. What do you think is most important in your life?
I'm not lying : Friends and family. And a bit of cash would be nice.

18. Who's your favourite cartoon character?
Bugs Bunny, and Winnie the Pooh tie!

19. What will you do if the world ends tomorrow?
Meet all the stars I want, and get their autographs. I'll probably have to force them since they'll be trying to do whatever they would answer to the above question.

20. The most worthwhile decision you've ever made in your life so far?
To go to HELP, and not Taylors, or Trinity College :) Handsdown. It completely rejuvinated the Ruwan in me, and helped me grow and mature into someone I can be proud of.
