Heavy Heart

I feel sad, but I don't want to talk about it.

My mom rang just now - and when she and my dad call they try their best to pamper me through the phone since they can't do it in person anymore. It's usually a nice ending to my day, especially now that I've managed to make it happen less often.

But today I just shouted at my mom and told her I wanted to get off the phone. And she was still nice and said "okay good night Ru!" and all that, but I really shouldn't have done it because it has nothing to do with her.

Since I got here I haven't had a chance to miss home, or miss Malaysia. I've been kept busy, not only by uni, but mercifully by friends. Lately however, even though I still have the opportunity to be busy, sometimes I start feeling a bit sad. And it's not because I'm missing home, but it definitely has something to do with me coming to Australia.

I'm the only one staying at Arrow. I mean, I've met some people who stay at Arrow as well, but I don't have the opportunity to hang out with them 'cause our schedules are so conflicting. But my friends are different. They either have roommates, or stay in the same apartment complex, or in the case of my college and uni friends they stay at College Square Lygon and so can visit each other at any time. When you live in the same complex, you can go out together, you can study together, you can cook together, and there's always someone nearby. This also helps them grow a group of close friends.

I don't feel like an outsider at all, but I do sometimes wish that I lived around friends. Since I can't always visit/go out with them since they live further away, I have to deal with everything myself. I don't have their luxury, and it's not something that normally gets at me because I like living in the city, being near to uni and important places, but once in a blue moon it does.

The only reason I'm blogging about it this time is because I realise that lately I have been stopping myself from feeling anything but happy. Since I normally am a contented person, I don't surpress my emotions when they occur. But since I've got here, I haven't wanted to be homesick or feel alone, and so if I feel something is going to make me feel a bit down, I distract myself somehow. I don't want that to happen, because I think that's unhealthy.

But yeah. This is just an off night for me :) At least I'm not feeling homesick :)

Anyway, I'm hoping to find a roommate for next year. I haven't really begun searching, but I know I would like one :) Cheaper rent is one big factor, but I suppose I also want the knowledge that someone else is there. So we'll see how it goes. I'll pray on it!

I think I better call my parents now...say goodnight properly!

And I'll be fine....I have to be...

My Parents Think I Have a Lot of Money

I've worked hard to get my friends to disillusionise my friends from thinking that I have a lot of spending money. But now, it seems I have to work on my parents too!

Me : You know today, I was so sad for myself! I walked past some crepe store in Melbourne Central and I smelt waffles and I was so tempted to buy them, but I knew it would be expensive (after conversion)! In KL I would have just been able to buy them :(
Mom : You can spend on things like that! Just go and buy next time!

Me : I want to buy a MoMU tshirt, but it's $15 bucks! So expensive for something I probably won't wear often! :(
Dad : $15? Just buy it loi!

And the kicker...

Mom : What did you have for dinner?
Me : Cous cous and beef curry
Mom : Why are you cooking all the time?! Order pizza or McDonalds more often!

Ok la...spending the money is one thing. But what's the point of having outflow when THERE'S NOT ENOUGH INFLOW?!

Mom : Remember to buy a monthly tram ticket for winter!
Me, at shop : *chokes when I find out how much a monthly ticket is*...errr...10x2 hour ticket please?!

My Right Eye Won't Open Properly :(

The three songs which I always thought should have been released as singles are going to be released from Dignity! The last (and sixth) single will be released in August 2008, exactly 2 years after the lead single was released.

I can't wait to see how they do cause they're two of my favourites from the album! Gypsy Woman (by One Republic's lead singer, Haylie and Hilary) and Happy. A new song Reach Out will be released as a single too, next month.

Anyway, a pic I left out from Sars's birthday :

One day I took Elaine to the MAS office and on the way back we stopped off at Nando's to have lunch.

KL Nando's is better!

That's this post :)

Next post will be up probably tomorrow : Tse Han's orchestra and an outing with Steph.

Happy Birthday Sars!!!

No, no, not the pandemic!

Harvey and I planned Sara's 19th birthday, and after various impossible ideas we came up with a mystery joyride.

I was in charge of getting the guest list together, and co-ordinating the times and everyone's movements, while Harvey worked on the "clue cards" and came up with the flow of events for the night.

We told Sara (known from now as Sars) to meet us at Melb Uni at 6.45, and we planned to show up at 6 to surprise her at her apartment, because we hadn't told her what was happening and so she didnt know what to wear. We had just told her we were going out, and sleeping over at Harvey's later.

Harvey's meeting ran late though, so I went on my own. I realised that I couldn't get into her apartment without being let in so I rang Ching Ching, but she and Tse Han were out. I rang Anselm hoping he hadn't left, and I was in luck! However, just as I was about to ring him to say I had arrived, Sars came out of the front doors "=.=

Luckily she hadn't packed her sleepover stuff, so we went back up to her apartment. While she was packing I swiped her dvd's so that we could watch them later. WE HAD TO WAIT FOR THE TRAM FOR 20 MINUTES, and she GRILLED me meanwhile relentlessly, to find out what was happening. Hahaha!

We arrived at Harvey's (by this time she was sure that there was a surprise party waiting at Harvey's) and wah la! No one there. Meanwhile I got some news that meant we had to stall for a bit, so we headed to Melbourne Central to pass the time at Borders.

And so, Sars got her first scroll!

Scroll 1 : YOU are cordially invited to spend this evening with us. (further details will be given to you soon)

Finally everything sorted itself out, and we could finally give her scroll #2. I slipped it into her bag while she was busy chatting, and she couldn't figure out how it got in there!

Scroll #2 : Dinner time! Heard you've not been to Sofia's? (You don't really have a choice tonight). Let's go!

Sars : Where's Sofia's?! Lygon Street?! Eh...why are we getting on a train?!

We took her to Camberwell, where once we reached we pulled off the train with barely enough time for her to get her stuff together. We then walked around.

Me : Hmm....what if we don't get seats?
Sars : Oh no!

SURPRISE!

Vyn, Harvey, Keat

Me, Anselm, Shin

Ai Vyn, Keat (Sars's boyfriend), Shin and Anselm were there. Their train had got delayed hence the stalling at Borders. They were hiding their faces with menus when we arrived "=.=

Keat & Sars

One surprise failed that day : her cake. The waiter came over to ask how many candles to put on it, and so she saw it. And then even though I told them to put 1, they put 2! Anyway, it was a Chocolate Mud Cake from Brunetti's. I asked Vyn to get Sars's favourite, the Choc Mousse, but it was unavailable so she got the next best thing :) Thanks Vyn! You know when you called me all those times panicking, I had to keep climbing out of the shower? Hahaha!

It was a fun dinner to me. Hope you enjoyed it Sars! She was so surprised that her ears turned red! Hehe...we had calamari rings, 4 different pastas, and a huge pizza. It was so good and filling! Seriously, must go back there again.

So then, back home!

SURPRISE AGAIN!

Scroll #3 : Think it's over do you? Just dinner and cake? You're WRONG! LASER WARS @ CROWN! *bang bang*

Two things that Sars has always wanted to are go clubbing and try out laser wars. We selected the everyone-friendly one :) Did your ears turn red again? hehe!

The train was 25 minutes away, so we played Watermelon and Adult-Concentration while waiting, eventhough there were people around. Haha! Adult-Concentration? I remember playing it in Cempaka...it's like concentration except instead of numbers you have a sexual action and sexual noise (for example Keat slurped, Sars went "Uhuh uhuh" while making an action, mine was licking my finger etc.)

BANG BANG! Ai Vyn had to go clubbing and so didn't come for laser wars.

We bought the unlimited games ($30) entry, but after 1/2 hour, there was a technical problem. They gave us a 1 hour card each to play any games at the arcade, but after an hour it was still not repaired. They offered to give us a $30 voucher to come back another day and play, but we said we were on holiday and leaving for KL soon and so they gave us back the cash! Woot! 2.5 hours of free gaming!

After some difficulty in getting a tram back, we headed off. Sars, Harvey and I got off at Milano and bade farewell to the rest (thanks for the help guys!) and then...

Scroll #4 : TIRED? sure hope you're not! The night is still young...(next stop) 8 Franklin Street.

I'm pretty sure Sars thought we were going to Se7en at first, but she finally figured out that 8 Franklin street was Milano.

Scroll #5 : Here we are! Sleepover & movie. We hope you enjoyed your 19th birthday! Love you Sars.

Sars : Oh no! I should have brought my movies!
Me : Errrr......

Before that, we had some camwhoring at the Milano lobby. After our first shot, Daniel and Guilia appeared, and joined us. And then 5 minutes later Alex and Michelle walked in as well with their friend.

Guilia, Sars, Harvey, Daniel, Me

Alex, Harvey, Guilia, Me, Sars, A&M's friend, Michelle

We kept talking in the lobby - once the reception phone rang and we thought they were ringing to scold us. Hahah!

Then to the sleepover! We passed on the movie in favour of talking. When we finally succumbed to exhaustion, Alex & Mich slept in one room, Harvey, me, Guilia and Sars in another.

So, Happy 19th birthday Sars! I hope this year brings you plenty of joy and happiness, and I hope you know I'm always here for you! Hope you enjoyed yourself, and best of luck in everything :)

Thanks to Keat, Vyn, Anselm, and Shin for coming and making the night a success!

Sunday, May 18

His Majesty returns.

The 3 weeks of hell are over. Phew. Thank you God for getting me through it!

You have no idea how stressed and tired I've been. I've gotten so little sleep over the past few weeks that every day I just walked around knowing that if I closed my eyes for a second - even while crossing the road - I would fall asleep.

But anyway, as I mentioned before, I won't be blogging about mundane outings that I go on to fill up my lunches and stuff like that. So actual outing outings will be blogged about, and after the cut down, I am 16 posts behind excluding posts that I've forgotten about.

So let's get one out of the way.

One day Harvey wanted to come over and cook since his roommate was out. He cooked marinated mushrooms and beef while I supplied the cous cous and chicken soup. It was really good, but I don't know what kinda mushrooms to buy, so I can't make it myself. I've also been getting loads of shows from Harvey, so thanks Harvey!

One Sunday I went to Donvale to spend the night because my neighbour from KL was staying with my aunt (he came to supervise the medicine students at Monash). I only spent one night there because I had my MoMU interview the next day (show's how far backdated my posts are huh?).

I used to think that I would meet Seok at least once a week, and that once a week seemed to be Thursday when we both ended class at 11. But you know how it goes...both sides have to want it right? Anyway, on one of the Thursdays that she DID have time for me (and she was sick), we went to Norsiah's for nasi lemak, where I ran into Albert AGAIN! I'm surprised he doesn't perpetually smell of Norsiah's at the rate he's going.

(and in order to get rid of another post, 2 weeks later she came by to help me finish off my food. Ching Ching had come over to attempt to do the same the day before, but there was still tonnes left. You wanna know why? Well, that's gonna be explained to you 5 posts down the road).

Oh and also, I got a tram fine. My weekly had just expired the night before, but I didn't have time to get a new one before I reached uni. I thought I would get one at uni, but when I got down at uni they were doing a spot check. $162! But I haven't got the fine yet (it's been a month so let's hope they've decided not to send it), and I can appeal it, so I'm thinking hard. So, then I starved myself for a week before going to Donvale for the long Anzac weekend.

I had a 5 day weekend so I decided to stay in Donvale in order to do my assignments. It was quite fun, and we played badminton at cock's crow dawn every morning. It was a well deserved break for me after the shock of the tram fine and the burden that came down on me with it. We played loads of games as well, and once it was just us 5 kids at home when the adults were out for dinner. We all sat around the heated den with our laptops on our laps and challenging each other at Halo and Need for Speed. I helped three of them with their maths as well! I miss Math :(

By serious condensation, I've done 4 posts in one, so only 12 more to go. Eheh...today's the day I allocated to take off, but after this it's (with God's help and guidance) to the books! Exams are in 3 weeks. I have 3 weeks to learn and understand 12 weeks of work for 4 different subjects, and on top of that go to classes. Wonderful. Brilliant Ruwan, brilliant.

I wonder if God's even gonna help me now, because if I were him, I would teach me a lesson! Procrastination has a new King, and he's on the way to the blocks!

Heart to Hearth

I'm back to KL on the 26th of June. And then I'm back here on the 25th of July.

2 days before my birthday...

I'm pretty wary about going back, because I'm scared that I'll be really sad when I have to leave again. I haven't missed KL yet, but I think I will once I have to leave again. So far it's been like I'm on holiday or something - that kinda feeling, even with all the work. But when work is sparse and I have to leave my home (might be the last time I leave that particular home...ssshhhh!) I don't know if I'll crumble.

I don't do crumbling. I'm not a good crumbler. I haven't crumbled in...2 years!

But yeah. Hoping to meet all of you! Or rather all of you who want to meet me! And I WANT (whether you want it or not :P) a "Settedici" reunion, a "Starbucks at Pavilion Gang" reunion, a "The Tony Roma's Cempakans" reunion and...all the rest in between! Hehehe

I found a lot of old pictures when I was doing a clean out of my picture folders (who the hell takes so many pictures?!) and I uncovered memories that had totally fallen out of the loop. I started laughing at some of them...hehehe...hilarious...

Oh by the way...

Do I have my birthday in KL or Melbourne? Your votes count :D

Shaking the planet

FHM named Hilary the 7th sexiest women in the world...out of 100! Last year she was 80 something.

One Sunday a long long time ago I met up with Harvey and Sara for breakfast at Melbourne Central. We ate at *blank* cafe...

The Pancakes&Strawberries were like $10.90, and I didn't know if I wanted to spend that much (RM33!) on breakfast when I was going to have lunch again later...but I did! And they were really really nice!

Not so much later that day I met Elaine to go to Planetshakers. It was her first time coming to Arrow, so she walked right past it and was almost at CS Swanston by the time I rang her. She dumped off her shopping and we went to church. Later we came back to my place to cook dinner - meat curry with rice, potatoes and corn.

Fashion hurts. Elaine was walking like an old granny, wincing at every step. Infact, two old grannies even passed us and looked back staring. After church, we met them at the bus stop and they enquired about her...hehehe...

Oh yeah, incase you were wondering, it was because her shoes were too tight - sorry.

Anyway...wow...pretty short update huh? Like...nvm...hahha!

Oh, and I saw this poster online!

Sidenote : If you're wondering where Kat Mcphee is, look below. I think Mike Comrie is really lucky. No one would know who he is (other than hockey fans) if not for his girlfriend! And if not for his girlfriend, he wouldnt be able to see female stars nude (including Giselle Bundchen) at Allure's exhibition :
