Ping, thanks for everything - a great loyal friendship, and for giving me something that I would make sure I remember you everyday! The dog is the first thing I see every morning - and my friends say that I'm really lifeless for having the time to change the dates on it everyday! Hahahah
July 7th was Ping's birthday - her last one before she leaves for Dublin, and probably the last celebration I'll have with her in a long time. Medicine is really long if no one realised it before...hahaha
Anyway, I decided that it warranted something special so I planned a surprise party. I decided to do this a week before the party, but I was kept too busy so I could only launch into operations a few days before. Since I didn't know any of Ping's friends from school, I had to stalk her Friendster and Facebook accounts. Desmond also gave me two Facebook contacts of her friends.
I actually got Desmond's number from Ping a week before when I went out with her. We had bumped into him at MV, and so I casually asked for his number saying that incase I went out with Vyn, then maybe she and him could come along (since Desmond and Vyn are good friends). It was kind of a stretch but she totally bought it! Hahaha
All in all I invited six or seven of her friends from school. Most were overseas, 2 said they would come, Desmond couldn't make it and two other didn't reply (cause I bet they don't use Friendster anymore, just like me!)...hahah!
Also on the guest list were our college mates! Mun Yee, Darryl, Aaron, Nigel, Li Peng, Jackie, Yan Mei, Vincent and Beng Keat. Beng Keat had made prior plans. To get Li Peng's number was one big headache - I asked 3 of our mutual contacts, and finally a day before the party I managed to get it from (Rachel, you'll be interested) Pei Yee. Jackie was overseas, Yan Mei and Vincent said they were coming, but on the morning of the party I woke up to an sms saying they wouldnt be coming - no explanation given. Hmm...
Why do I sound so petty? Eesh, anyway...
On the day of the party we headed to OU. My reservation was at 12.30, but I told many 12 or 12.15 since they usually follow Malaysian timing. Seok Mei came to my house with Keng Yih to pick me up and take me to OU as I had no transport. SM lives right next to OU, so I'm really grateful she did that for me, FOR FREE TOO! :P
I arrived at 12 and bought the birthday cake, and Darryl came at 12.15. And then everyone else started trooping in at 12.45. Yee Ping arrived at 1, and I sent Mun Yee down to meet her. Yee Ping and Li Peng were coming together, so I told Mun Yee that I would ring her when we were ready for Ping. I wanted Li Peng to come up and wait with us as well - unfortunately Mun Yee didn't hear me, and so suddenly they arrived there!
Yee Ping was....shocked. Very shocked. It all payed off. Hahahah!
This was her face for the first 4 minutes :

Oh by the way, it was at Itallianies. Midway through the meal I went off to arrange the cake. Got my hands all sticky too, and the plate was a bit too small, but it was alright I guess. The cake was levels of doughnuts! 20 of them, since she was turning 20 that day :)

She had to blow out the candles with this straw :D IT ACTUALLY WORKED!

Us! From left, Nigel, Aaron, Me, Darryl. Mun Yee, Yee Ping, Zuyin.

And Li Peng's half hidden face!

In the end, Zuyin was the only person from her school who showed up. The other guy, who I shall not name
Hope you enjoyed it Ping :) Make sure you visit Melbourne next year. And I hope I'll see you in good ol' KL in January! Thanks to Desmond for getting the ball rolling, and thanks to everyone for coming! :)
Oh by the way, I'm heading to Ipoh on Monday! My first time going to the town le desolee, but I'm sure it'll be fun!
